An Iowa author has made plans to stop at several libraries in the listening area to discuss various topics from the Civilian Conservation Corps, Rosies of Iowa and more. Linda McCann began writing her published books back when she discovered there were eight named locations around the town where she lived that she never knew existed. She was then asked to expand her coverage to do a county-wide book, which turned into the “Lost Towns” series came about. But McCan has more history to write about then just lost towns, which will be discussed at her first presentation on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Rippey Public Library on the Civilian Conservation Corps.
The CCC was mainly known for creating a majority of the state parks known today. Next, McCann will speak on the Prohibition in Iowa at the Marchant Memorial Library in Scranton starting at 6 p.m. Monday.
McCann will go more in depth on the laws and regulations during the Prohibition, including some facts of events right here in the listening area. The next two presentations on Tuesday, on the Rosies of Iowa. The first will be at the Jefferson Public Library at 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. at the Carroll Public Library.
The final speaking event will be at the Manning Public Library at 2 p.m. discussing the Lost Towns of Iowa and McCann’s journey on becoming a published author.
All programs are open to the public and free to attend. There will be opportunities to purchase McCann’s books at the speaking events to those interested in having a copy of their own.
