Modified Events Of Lake View Water Carnival Start Today

Even though some aspects of this weekend’s Black Hawk Lake Summer Water Carnival have been cancelled, the 67th annual celebration will still see many traditions continue. The Black Hawk Men’s Club will host their beer garden tonight (Friday) and Saturday night with live entertainment. Scott Kirkhart will be playing on Friday and Jim Hirschberg will DJ on Saturday night. The beer garden space will be enlarged to encourage social distancing. There are chances to exercise the body, mind and spirit first thing Saturday morning with Yoga by the Lake at 7 a.m. and a 5K Road Race/Walk beginning at 8 a.m. Art in the Park will open at 7:30 a.m. and the Lake View Community Club’s annual Belgian waffle feed at the Centennial Shelter House will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The street parade will see an extended route, allowing for spectators to safely spread out. They will begin at 1 p.m. near the school and travel past Town Bay. More details on the street parade route can be found below. Cardboard boat races at the north stone pier will begin at 4 p.m. and the winners of the Little Miss Black Hawk Lake pageant will be announced by the west stone pier at 6:30 p.m. The carnival closes out Saturday evening with fireworks at dusk followed by the announcement of cash drawing winners. There will be no carnival rides and no water parade as the organizers work to help stem the spread of COVID-19. Individuals are encouraged to follow suggested safety measures, such as social distancing and wearing a mask when that is not possible, the thorough and frequent washing of hands and use of hand sanitizer when washing with soap and water is not possible.
