The East Sac County Board of Education has scheduled four public information meetings as they prepare for a Sept. 8 vote for approximately $10 million in renovations and updates at the elementary site in Sac City and the high school building in Lake View. Roughly $6 million of the proposed renovations will be funded through the SAVE (Secure an Advanced Vision for Education) tax. The remainder will be covered by the one-dollar Physical Plant and Equipment (PPEL) levy. The proposed plan encompasses updates at both locations for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), including the installation of an elevator at the high school, and increased classroom space. There will also be a new commons and kitchen constructed at the high school. Superintendent, Jeff Kruse, urges all district residents to attend the upcoming informational sessions as this vote is critical to their long-range goal of reorganizing to these two locations. He says without the approval of the PPEL, they will likely be unable to do the needed work at both sites and leadership will have the difficult task of prioritizing projects. The board will be answering questions, but no action will be taken, at the upcoming meetings. The first two will be held on Monday, Aug. 24, one at the Auburn Shelter House at 5:30 p.m. and the other at the Sac Elementary School at 7 p.m. Then on Tuesday, Aug. 25, they will meet at the Wall Lake Elementary building at 5:30 p.m. and at the Lake View High School at 7 p.m.
