Carroll County COVID Positive Cases At 617 Friday Morning

Positive COVID-19 case numbers are continuing to jump by double-digit numbers in Carroll County on a daily basis, reaching 617 by 6 a.m. this (Friday) morning. The two-week positivity rate is now at 18.1 percent, fourth among all 99 Iowa counties. The majority of positive cases fall in the mid-range age categories with 36 percent 18 to 40 and 31 percent 41 to 60 years old. Those 61 to 80 comprise 16 percent of the positives while 14 percent are zero to 17 and just three percent over 80. There is one nursing home outbreak reported in Carroll County, at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids, where there are now 16 positive cases with five recovered. There are currently 284 COVID cases listed as recovered in the county and five deaths, leaving 328 active cases. In the rest of the listening area: Crawford County is reporting 954 positives, ranking sixth in the state at 17.8 percent, with 778 cases recovered and four deaths; Guthrie County is at 7.8 percent with 209 positives, 156 recovered and five deaths; Sac reports a 13.3 percent positivity rate with 183 cases, 99 of which are recovered; Calhoun County comes in this morning with a 7.9 percent rate, 163 positives, 119 recovered and two deaths; Greene is at 6.3 percent with 80 positives and 46 recovered; and Audubon has a 7.4 percent positivity rate with 53 cases, 32 recovered and one death. For the State of Iowa, Friday starts with 77,865 positives, 729 in the past 24 hours, with 56,453 recovered and 1,257 deaths.
