The Carroll Chamber of Commerce announced today (Thursday) they have cancelled the 63rd Annual Carroll Band Day Parade and Competition. The popular fall event, which was scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3, was called off following discussions between the Chamber Board of Directors and Band Day Committee and with the support of local band directors and schools. According to the Chamber, a smaller-than-usual number of bands would have been able to participate in this year’s activities due to COVID-19 concerns. Additionally, a limited number of businesses and organizations had registered to take part in the parade. This will be the second consecutive year Carroll Band Day has not been held. The 2019 event was cancelled due to poor weather conditions. While saddened by the decision, Chamber staff acknowledged they knew this was a possible outcome due to the pandemic. They are already looking forward to the return of the Carroll Band Day in 2021.
