Only minor injuries were reported following a two-vehicle accident on Highway 71 about three miles south of Auburn Tuesday night. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the scene at approximately 6:34 p.m. Their initial investigation shows 76-year-old Jean Ann Huegerich of Lake View was traveling northbound on Highway 71 in a 2014 Ford Explorer and had started decelerating for a vehicle turning into a residential driveway. At the same time, a 2017 Chrysler 300, driven by 20-year-old Tori Elizabeth Adams of Wall Lake, was following closely behind the Huegerich vehicle. Adams failed to slow in time and rear-ended the SUV. Adams reported minor injuries as a result of the collision. Approximately $2,500 in damage was reported to the rear of the Ford and $10,000 in damage to the front passenger side of the Chrysler. Adams was cited for failure to stop in an assured safe distance.
