On Friday afternoon, January 22, a cow was the cause of what passes for a traffic jam in rural Iowa. The Greene County Sheriff’s office received a report around 2:53 pm that a cow had been spotted walking down the middle of Highway 30, east of J Avenue, just west of Jefferson. When a deputy arrived at the scene he found traffic backed-up in both directions as some drivers were out trying to get the cow off of the roadway. The volunteer wranglers were able to herd the animal off the highway and secure the bovine in a nearby building sight. No injuries were reported.
