Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton speaks in support of Renewable Fuels

Democratic Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton is on the campaign trail and she’ll be making a stop in Carroll prior to the Iowa Caucuses. Late last week Carroll Broadcasting talked with Clinton about lowered Renewable Fuel Standards (RFS) set by the EPA for 2016 which were under 2007 guidelines. In response Clinton says it’s time to take a hard look at RFS standards so the country can continue benefiting from advanced technologies; while adding that the biofuel industry also needs to make renewable fuels more efficient.

Some other candidates, according to Clinton, are not supportive of continuing renewable fuel standards because they don’t want the country moving away from fossil fuels. She says that is a mistake as the US is poised to be a 21st century energy super power.

She adds the biofuel industry creates jobs, along with business opportunities, all while providing the United States with the chance to lead the world in clean, renewable fuels. Clinton also talked about her plans to support rural economies with the expansion of local food markets and regional food systems, and we’ll bring you that story in a future broadcast. Clinton will make a public appearance this Saturday, January 30, at the Carrollton in Carroll. The free event will begin at 3:00 pm and is open to the public, however, RSVP’s are recommended.
