Local Students Recognized at Twin Lakes Conference Art Competition

On Saturday, March 12, 15 students from the 10 schools making up the new Twin Lakes Conference showcased their artistic talents on the Iowa Central Community College campus in Fort Dodge. Students, parents and art teachers spent the day, attending workshops, touring the campus and the Blanden Museum while judges critiqued the students’ work in a wide variety of categories and mediums. A public reception and awards ceremony was then held that evening. Local students recognized for outstanding artwork include: Cyle King of South Central Calhoun for  a non-graphite drawing titled “The Space In Between”; Maddy Leitz-Doyle of East Sac for her non-acrylic painting; Sonnie Cornelius of East Sac County for a pastel titled “The Rocks”; Jacob Stephensen of South Central Calhoun for a ceramic piece called “Land Shark”; Maddie Neal of South Central Calhoun for another ceramic project titled “The Head of Buddha”; Ziah Van Meter of East Sac County received recognition in the Sculpture and 3D Mixed Media Category for a piece called “Social Confusion”; and two students were awarded honorable mention, Anna McChesney of South Central Calhoun with “Pretty in Purple” and Ashlie Aschinger of East Sac County for “3 Modern Beauties.”
