Kuemper Catholic, IKM-Manning, SCC and ESC Cross Country Ran At Denison Schleswig on Tuesday

Cross Country Results Tuesday, September 29^th

East Sac, Kuemper, South Central Calhoun and IKM-Manning At Denison Schleswig

Kuemper and IKM-Manning had a nice race individually and as a team in the boy’s race. The Knights edged the Wolves in both taking 3^rd as a team with the Wolves right behind them in 4^th. Michael Pottebaum and Quentin Dreyer ran with each other for a while with Dreyer trying to make a move in the last half mile but Pottebaum was able to hold him off and took 2^nd place while Dreyer finished 3^rd. Dreyer started the race well and hung with the top runner from Harlan until the mile and a half mark before starting to lose ground. Pottebaum wasn’t happy with his start and felt his pace was a little slow but picked it up over the final mile and a half. Dreyer could hear people yelling Pottebaum so he says he knew he was coming before they ran together for a short time.

The Knights had nice depth with Kaleb Booth in 7^th and Jacob Greving 16^th. IKM-Manning also had a nice group near the top with Connor Keller in 11^th, Caden Keller 24^th and Lane Sams 25^th. Tyler Lightner paced South Central Calhoun in 26^th place with Wyatt Thorpe pacing the Raiders in 46^th place.

In the girls race South Central Calhoun edged Kuemper taking 6^th place with the Knights in 7^th. Emma Schroeder of East Sac ran an extremely good race, staying with the top runners all the way through. Schroeder was still running strong climbing the final uphill before she came down the hill to the finish line in 7^th place. Marie Dae felt she ran okay but didn’t think her pace was quite where she wanted to be but still ran a good race leading Kuemper in 18^th place. South Central Calhoun runners Alexia Nelson and Alayna Murley both finished in the top 25. Nelson got a really good start and stayed near the front of the race most of the day. She would finish in 23^rd. Murley was in the grouping behind Nelson most of the race but closed strong and took 25^th place. Morgan Hanson and Julianna Stribe continue to set the pace for IKM-Manning. Hanson had another strong race in her comeback from injury and finished 30^th with Stribe in 33^rd. Aimee Vaca of East Sac was solid all race and finished 31^st.
