A Carroll man is facing charges after attempting to light himself and a Carroll Police officer on fire. Chief Brad Burke reports officers responded to a domestic abuse call and that there was a woman “covered in blood” in the 1100 block of N. Clark Street at approximately 4:47 p.m. Tuesday. Upon arrival, the suspect, 40-year-old Kenneth Harris, barricaded himself inside the residence and then poured gasoline over his body and on the officer attempting to enter. Harris then tried to ignite the gasoline. Officers were able to physically detain Harris, who was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital for an evaluation. He is facing charges for domestic abuse assault with additional charges pending. The Manning Police Department, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Department of Motor Vehicle Enforcement assisted with the incident.
