Carroll Man Sentenced To Prison Time For Sexual Offenses

A Carroll man will be serving up to 15 years in prison on four sexual offense charges. According to documents filed in the Iowa District Court for Carroll County, the judge sentenced 36-year-old Timothy Shane McFarland, who pled guilty on charges from two cases that included lascivious conduct with a minor, a serious misdemeanor, lascivious acts with a child, a class D felony and two counts of third-degree sexual abuse, class C felonies. In the first case, McFarland was arrested by the Carroll Police Department in November of 2019 following an investigation into sexual abuse allegations. At that time, McFarland was charged with two counts of second-degree sexual abuse, class B felonies, for engaging in sex acts with a juvenile victim from August of 2012 to November of 2015. The victim was abused from the time they were seven years old until they were 11 years old. McFarland has been sentenced to 10 years on each of the reduced charges from that case and they will run concurrently. These, however, will run consecutively with the charges in the second case. In January of this year, McFarland was again arrested, this time on the lascivious conduct and acts charges from a July 1, 2019 incident in which a child victim was made to fondle McFarland’s genitals and pubic area. The sentencing for the first count, one year, and that for the second, five years, will run concurrently to each other and he will receive credit for time served. McFarland will also be ordered to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.
