A Carroll man was taken into custody Tuesday by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office on an outstanding arrest warrant for motor vehicle burglary. Carroll County District Court records show 18-year-old Austin Lee Wheeler is accused of third-degree burglary, an aggravated misdemeanor. A Carroll Police Department affidavit says he and 19-year-old Dalton Lee Andrew Maples stole items from a pickup truck parked in the 100 block of North Clark Street on the evening of Nov. 5. Wheeler was released from custody on his own recognizance after appearing before a magistrate on Tuesday. His preliminary hearing is slated for Thursday, Jan. 7. He faces a maximum penalty of two years in prison and $6,250 in fines if found guilty of the charge.
