Graveside services for Barbara Davis, 92, of Lohrville will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 2, 2021, at the Evergreen Cemetery near Lohrville. Following the graveside services, a gathering will be held at the Lohrville Fire Department; all are invited.
The Brown Funeral Home of Jefferson is assisting the family.
Barbara Davis, the daughter of Russell and Adrianna (Miller) Borg, was born October 2, 1928 in Des Moines, Iowa and departed this life December 28, 2020 at the Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City, Iowa.
Barbara lived in rural Runnells, Iowa when she was young, moving into Des Moines in later childhood. In 1939, her family moved to Lohrville where her father was already working for P.M. Lauver at the DX Station as a mechanic. Barbara graduated from Lohrville High School in 1945 and attended Iowa State Teachers College where she received a 2-year teaching degree. She taught country school near Lake City and in Farnhamville. While teaching in Farnhamville she met Earl Davis at the Gowrie Skating Rink. They were married June 16, 1951 at the Church of Christ in Lohrville. They were blessed with two children, Brian and Marsha. Once her children were in school, she taught again in Farnhamville and then at Lincoln Elementary School in Lake City.
Barbara is survived by her children; Brian Davis and his wife, Becky, of Lake City and Marsha Jones and her husband, Doug, of Cedar Falls, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Earl in 2014 and sister, Margie White.
