Scranton Man Sentenced Thursday For Felony Drug Possession

A Scranton man accused of felony drug possession in District Court for Carroll County was sentenced today (Thursday). According to court records, 51-year-old David Allan Holley was arrested by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office in March 2020 after narcotics were found in his vehicle during a traffic stop. Holley was originally charged with two class D felonies, third-offense possession of a controlled substance—marijuana and methamphetamine. He reached an agreement with prosecutors in October and pled guilty to only one of the charges. As part of the plea deal, a five-year prison sentence was suspended, and Holley was ordered to pay more than $1,750 in fines, court costs and attorney fees. He has been placed on probation for three years to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services
