No Injuries In School Bus Accident Near Stuart Last Week

No injuries were reported when a pickup collided with a West Central Valley School bus last Thursday afternoon. The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at approximately 4:11 p.m. on Wagon Road, just north of the Stuart city limits. Fifty-two-year-old Christine Ann Damstrom of Dexter was driving the bus with about 15 students on board northbound in the 3300 block and had just stopped, engaging the stop sign arm and activating the lights to drop off a student at a driveway. She continued a short distance with the arm extended and lights flashing to discharge another student, when the bus was struck from behind by 24-year-old Ryan Michael Gross of Linden, who was driving a 1994 Ford Ranger. Gross told authorities he did not see the brake lights because of a sun glare and that he was following too closely to see the red flashing lights. There was an estimated $1,000 in damage to the Freightliner school bus and approximately $3,000 in damages to the Ranger. Gross will be cited for following too closely.
