(PHOTOS) South Central Calhoun Boys Win, Kuemper and Ar-We-Va Fall in Saturday Basketball

Boys Basketball Results Saturday, January 30th

Glenwood At Kuemper

Glenwood 66

Kuemper 59

Kuemper battled hard and played well on defense initially but gave up too many offensive rebounds and Glenwood was able to take advantage building a 10 point lead midway through the 2nd quarter. The Knights rallied with a 16-7 run to end the 1st half and took a brief lead before halftime but trailed 35-34 at the break. The game remained tight most of the rest of the way with Noah Bauer tying the game at 37 and Kuemper twice leading in the 3rd quarter but the Rams got the lead back, went up by 4 and spread the floor for the final 4:00 minutes, using their athletes and the spacing to dribble drive and get Ryan Blum the freedom to create. It was a 5 point game late but Glenwood pulled away down the stretch and went up by as many as 10.

Taye Vonahmme and Blake Pottebaum settled Kuemper in during both halves as they provided a physical presence on both ends of the floor. Dawson Gifford continues to play well down the stretch of the season. His ability to get to the rim and knock down shots from the outside kept the Knights close through the first 3 quarters. John Mayhall was able to get going offensively late and Isaac Evans had a solid game inside leading the Knights with 10 rebounds.

Dawson Gifford led the way with 18 points while John Mayhall added 16 points and 5 assists. Isaac Evans had 10 rebound and Noah Bauer 5 rebounds.
