Carroll At Raccoon River Conference Tournament At Carlisle

The Tigers went to the conference tournament with the mindset of winning the title and they didn’t finish too far away from that goal. Carroll took 3^rd with 164 points and were just 23 points away from Bondurant Farrar who claimed the title. The Tigers had two champions in Carter Drake at 138 and Jireh Gallegos at 145 along with 3 guys in 2^nd and 3 guys in 3^rd. Carroll had 9 of their 10 wrestlers that competed placed with all 9 of them in the top 4. The Tigers went 23-10 in matches and had 11 wins by fall and another 5 wins by major decision.

Both Carter Drake and Jireh Gallegos where perfect on the day at 3-0, Gallegos had 2 wins by fall and a major decision, Drake had a major decision. Cale Nelson went 2-1 taking 2^nd place with a win by fall. Jaxson Kuhlmann was 2-1 with 2 wins by fall and finished 2^nd. Abraham Dirkx was 2^nd, going 2-1 with both wins by fall. Kuemper at Hawkeye 10 Conference Tournament At Red Oak

The Kuemper Knights had a difficult day as a team at the Hawkeye Ten conference tournament, but did have a few wrestlers in the top three individually. As a team, the Knights went 15-22 in matches wrestled and placed 7th overall. Some of the highlights from the individual matches on the day, Riley Parkis would place third at the 106 weight class going 4-1 in matches wrestled. His only loss came via a decision against Clarinda. He would go on to win the 3rd place match via sudden victory.

Cal Wanninger would represent Kuemper in the 220 pound class and would end his day going 2-1 in matches wrestled and finishing in second place. His only loss came in the 1st place match where he lost via fall to secure his second place finish. Finally, for the Knights, Shae Parkis would end up becoming a district champion by outlasting four opponents in the 138 pound weight class. Shae would go 4-0 in matches wrestled and would win the championship match via decision to become individual district champion.

The Knights will be in action next when they take on Bishop Heelan on Saturday, February 6th.
