Sac County Conservation Uses Donations To Benefit Residents And Visitors Alike

The Sac County Conservation Board is pleased to announce that recent donations have been allocated for the benefit of county residents and visitors of all ages. The board was able to purchase eight new boats and related necessities thanks to an award from the Barbara and Gilbert Renze Charitable Foundation. They turned those grant dollars into recreational opportunities for all who visit Sac County through the purchase of a new boat trailer, personal floatation devices, paddles, two solo canoes, four sit-in-kayaks and two sit-on kayaks. These items will be made available to rent through the county’s environmental education programs. And donations from the Sportsmen’s Club, Schooley Manufacturing, Eskimo Ice Fishing Gear and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) have been used to provide 18 ice fishing kits free of charge to accompany their virtual ice fishing clinic. Then, those who submitted a photo of themselves and/or their families participating in the activities from the clinic were entered into a drawing to win a grand prize of an eight-inch Eskimo hand ice auger or other prizes, including Eskimo stocking caps. The free ice fishing clinic videos can be found on the Sac County naturalist YouTube page, a link to which is included below.
