Two men from Des Moines and one from Lakeside were taken into custody Wednesday in Storm Lake on drug and firearm charges. At approximately 11 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violation. The odor of marijuana was allegedly emanating from the vehicle and a K-9 was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotics. A search uncovered marijuana, prescription pills and two loaded 9mm handguns-one of which was reported stolen out of Des Moines. Thirty-year-old Bendigo Jibo Augustino of Des Moines was wanted on two felony warrants from Polk and Dallas Counties for possession of a firearm by a felon and multiple drug charges. He was arrested and additionally charged with: trafficking in stolen weapons, two counts of felon in possession of a firearm and third-offense possession of a controlled substance, all class D felonies; two counts of carrying weapons and third offense possession of a controlled substance, marijuana, aggravated misdemeanors; possession of stolen property and unlawful possession of prescription drugs, serious misdemeanors; and making false reports to a public entity, a simple misdemeanor. During the booking process into the Buena Vista County jail, additional unlawful prescription drugs were located on Augustino’s person and the charge of introduction of contraband into a jail facility, a class D felony, was added. He is currently being held on a $38,300 bond. The other two are being held on $12,000 bonds each. Twenty-three-year-old Muaid Yousif Mohamed Ali of West Des Moines and 24-year-old Idris Jafar Keyanye of Lakeside have been charged with trafficking stolen weapons, two counts of carrying weapons, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance—marijuana—and unlawful possession of prescription drugs.
