Over Two Dozen CHS And KHS Students Earn Top Scores At State Speech Contest

Twenty-six Carroll and Kuemper students earned top ratings at the Iowa High School Speech Association (IHSSA) state individual speech contest in Fort Dodge over the weekend. Carroll High advanced 20 presenters through districts in Manson late last month. Of those 20, 16 earned a “I” or excellent rating in their respective categories. Seventeen Kuemper students earned top scores at districts to compete at state with 13 receiving “I” ratings. A complete list of the contest results can be found included below. Due to COVID-19, IHSSA will not by holding an all-state speech festival in Ames this year. However, judges can still nominate participants for the award. All-State qualifiers are expected to be announced late next week.
