Manning Man Charged With Felony Child Endangerment Sentenced Monday To Probation

A Manning man arrested last summer on charges of child endangerment was sentenced Monday in Carroll County District Court. According to court records, 56-year-old Thomas Patrick McManigal was originally charged with two class C felony counts for allegedly harming a minor on at least two occasions. Authorities say in one of those incidents near the end of May 2019 he threw his keys at a male juvenile and struck him in the face resulting in a chipped front tooth and multiple lacerations. As part of an agreement with prosecutors, McManigal pled guilty to a lesser child endangerment charge, a class D felony, and a five-year prison sentence was suspended in exchange for his guilty plea. He was placed on probation for three years to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services.
