A Carroll man who is awaiting trial on felony forgery as well as theft charges will now face drug charges in Greene County. The Jefferson Police Department reports they have requested an arrest warrant for 26-year-old Corey Allen Mutum on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, a serious misdemeanor. This charge is the result of an arrest on Feb. 22, at which time a substance suspected to be narcotics was located on his person. This was sent to the Division of Criminal Investigation’s (DCI) Criminalistics Laboratory for testing, subsequently returning positive results. Mutum has plead not guilty to two counts of forgery, class D felonies, and fourth-degree theft, a serious misdemeanor, in Carroll County District Court from a December incident. An investigation by the Carroll Police Department alleges he fraudulently used two of the victim’s checks for a total of $372. He is scheduled for trial on April 27 with a pretrial conference on April 8. If found guilty of those charges, he faces up to 10 years in prison and $16,875 in fines.
