The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) will begin a $3 million pavement resurfacing project in Crawford County later this week that will close a segment of Iowa Highway 39. The roadway, from U.S. Highway 59 to Avenue C in Denison will be closed beginning Friday, April 9 and will remain so until Monday, April 26, weather permitting. Motorists will initially be detoured for milling on Friday, using U.S. 59 to Arrowhead Road and Avenue C. The detour will be removed for the weekend and put back in place on Monday, April 12 so crews with InRoads, LLC of Des Moines can work on road widening. Once the widening work is completed, the detour will again be removed and put back in place on Monday, April 26 for the last phase of the project.
