Iowa Gov., Kim Reynolds, has ordered flags be flown at half-staff until midnight tonight (Wednesday), in honor and remembrance of Representative Alcee Hastings, a congressman from Florida and a prominent champion for civil rights. Representative Hastings passed away on April 6. This order is issued in conjunction with that of President Joe Biden’s proclamation to lower all U.S. flags to half-staff for the same length of time. Flags will be at half-staff on the State Capitol Building and on flag displays at the Capitol Complex, all public buildings, grounds and facilities throughout the state. Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties and other government subdivisions are encouraged to fly the flags at half-staff for the same length of time.
