Jerrie Lee Savery of Carroll

Jerrie Lee Savery, age 86, of Carroll passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.

     Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 9, 2021 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Fr. Timothy Schott officiating.  Casket bearers will be Jerrie’s grandchildren.  Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery.

     Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 10 – 11 A.M. on Friday prior to the service.

      In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials for Animal Rescue and may be left with the funeral home.

     Jerrie was born on May 16, 1934 in Harlan, IA, and she was the daughter of Oliver and Bernice (Olsen) Nelson.  She grew up in Harlan and graduated from Harlan High School.  She was married to James Savery on November 2, 1952 in Denison, IA.  The couple lived in Denison where Jerrie and Jim worked at the Savery Candy Kitchen.  The Savery’s moved to Carroll in the fall of 1973 where Jim worked for Metz Baking Company and Jerrie was a homemaker.  She enjoyed collecting antiques, and gardening.  She loved her many pets.  Jerrie also cherished the times she spent with her family at their lake home on Twin Lakes.

     Jerrie is survived by her husband James Savery of Carroll; daughter Sue Scharfenkamp (Jeff) of Carroll; son Jay Savery of Ft. Dodge; six grandchildren: Kate Fisher, Cale Scharfenkamp, Eli Scharfenkamp, Samantha Harvey (Jordan), Paige Savery, and Cole Savery; great-grandson Luka Galloway; two brothers-in-law: George Savery (Donna) of Ft. Dodge and Rich Savery of Pella; and several nieces and nephews.

     Jerrie was preceded in death by her parents Oliver and Bernice Nelson; her in-laws Arthur and Pearl Savery; her brother Bill Nelson (Marilyn), and in-laws: Maxine Gregorson (Dick), Nancy Butler (Harry), Arthur Savery (Lenora), La Donna Savery, and Mari Savery.
