Carroll at Carroll Tournament
The Carroll Tigers wrapped up a cold and windy Saturday going 1-1 at their home tournament.
In their first contest of the day against Humboldt, the Tigers were scored on in rapid succession, giving Humboldt a 2-0 lead early in the first half. With 27:37 left to play, Carroll cut the Humboldt lead in half at 2-1 with a goal from Clayton Weitl. Late in the first half, a 30 minute rain delay stopped play and gave the players a longer than usual rest. After play continued, both teams were unable to score within the last 10 minutes in the first half, keeping the lead in Humboldt’s corner at 2-1.
In the second half, Carroll played aggressively for the first 20 minutes and didn’t allow Humboldt to score. Ultimately, Humboldt found the back of the net again and scored twice and finished the game with a 4-1 win. Clayton Weitl finished the game with a goal, Nick Sorenson had an assist and Treyton Goins recorded 20 saves. As a team, Carroll attempted nine shots on goal.
