Carroll advanced to the regional championship for a chance to appear in the state soccer tournament after they defeated Webster City on Wednesday. Webster City’s plan of attack included strong clears and good ball control while Carroll used their speed to their advantage. The first half concluded with Carroll getting seven shots on goal, but neither team was able to net a goal. Webster City had three shots on goal, all of which were blocked well by Jayden Kirsch.
Carroll kicked off the second half by getting on the board quickly thanks to a Bella Baldus goal, giving them the 1-0 lead with 34:52 left to play. Nearly halfway through the second half, Emersyn Walsh scored again for Carroll with 25:59 left to play in the game, giving them a 2-0 lead. Webster City had chances to score a goal, but Carroll shut down those attempts with good defensive pressure. Carroll held on for the remainder of the second half to win 2-0 and advance to the regional championship.

Carroll improves to 5-14 on the season as Webster City’s season ends with a record of 5-12. Carroll will take on Spencer in the regional championship match on Friday, June 4th for a spot in the state soccer tournament.
