I, Mark Wilson, assumed room temperature on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Loring Hospital in Sac City, IA. I was born on March 2, 1953, in Sac City, IA to parents James L. Wilson and Freda (Poen) Wilson and attended school at Lake View Auburn and graduated with the Class of 1971. (If not for the top half of my class, I would have been Valedictorian).
I was chased by Karen Dee Reiter until she caught me in 1980. We were blessed with two wonderful kids, James Mark Wilson in 1982 and Jessica Lee Wilson in 1984. Those wonderful kids had to grow up a little early. One of the last conversations I had with Karen was a promise to try and raise the kids as good as they could be.
I had many jobs throughout my life, but being a good father was always the most important one. I worked at Boyer Valley Fertilizer, Nobles, on the “high line”, had gravel trucks and the most recent was at Mid-States Equipment, who put up with me for over 20 years. After “kind of” retiring, I played with wood projects, mowed lawns, pushed snow, and played farmer to keep busy. One of the things I enjoyed most was making someone laugh or smile, thinking it would brighten up their day. In my free time, I also enjoyed writing some entertaining poems, baking cakes and pies, and making squirrel torturing feeders…not to mention, undefinable things for special occasions.
Those that are worried I’m just kidding and that I’m going to jump out of the casket, are my Number One son, James Mark Wilson and my Number One daughter, Jessica Lee Wilson; sister by the law Judy (Garland) Wilson and family; sister Linda and husband Robert Butler and family; brother Steve and wife Sherrie Wilson and family; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Mark and Deb Reiter and family; brother-in-law Joel Reiter; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gaylen and Jayne Jepsen and family.
The people that will be a privilege for me to see again include: The mother of my children, Karen Dee “Reiter” Wilson; the wonderful people that raised me, Jim and Freda Wilson; my great in-laws, Dick and Joann Reiter; a very good brother, Garland Wilson; I get to meet a nephew, Nathan Butler; and a whole lot of others that have touched my life. On a personal thought; If the good Lord would lower his standards enough to allow me into Heaven, these are the people I would love to see and talk to but, I know I will catch Hell.
Mark had the time to write his own obituary and to craft his own urn. He also requests that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to The Loring Hospital Healthcare Foundation 211 Highland Ave, Sac City, IA 50583.
