An Arcadia man accused of drug trafficking made his initial appearance in Carroll County District Court Thursday. According to court records, 39-year-old Chad Alvin Prichard was taken into custody on June 2 by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office on an outstanding warrant for controlled substance violations, a class B felony. The charge stems from a March 13 incident with the Carroll Police Department in Northwest Park. Authorities say Prichard was in the park after hours and took off on foot when police approached him. Following the pursuit, law enforcement located two plastic baggies on his person containing over 18 grams of methamphetamine. Prichard was released from custody following his initial appearance after posting a $10,000 surety bond. His preliminary hearing is set for Thursday, July 1. A class B felony in Iowa carries a maximum penalty of up to 25 years in prison.
