Over $20,000 In Damage Reported In Two-Vehicle Accident Near Breda Friday

Over $20,000 in damage was reported following a two-vehicle accident east of Breda Friday afternoon. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the scene at the intersection of Kittyhawk Avenue and 120th Street at approximately 3:08 p.m. Their initial investigation determined a 2003 Ford pickup, driven by 41-year-old Calvin Lloyd Blessington of Wall Lake, was traveling northbound on Kittyhawk and failed to stop for a posted sign. Upon entering the intersection, the truck collided with the rear passenger’s side of an eastbound 2016 Chevrolet K1500 Silverado, driven by 51-year-old Steve Elmer Wiederin of Carroll. The Blessington vehicle continued northbound, coming to rest in the west ditch while the Wiederin truck spun once before coming to rest facing eastbound in the north ditch. No injuries were reported, but damage to the Chevrolet is estimated at $20,000 and $1,000 to the Blessington truck. Blessington was cited for failure to obey a stop sign, failure to provide proof of financial liability, driving while license suspended and fraudulent use of registration.
