Ronald Haubrich of Carroll

Ronald Haubrich, 78 of Carroll, died early Monday morning, July 19, 2021, at Regency Park Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at St. John Paul II Parish – Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Kevin Richter. Music will be provided by Kathy Halbur and Kathleen Macke. The Lector will be Nick Johansen. Gift Bearers for the service will be Olivia Lullmann, Abby Hofbauer, Trey Downing, and Jase Haubrich. The Eucharistic Minister will be Tammy Loew. Honorary Casket Bearer will be Jacob Haubrich. Casket Bearers will be Darius O’Tool, Tanner Downing, Chase Downing, Marissa Haubrich, Grace Lullmann, and Miley Haubrich. The Carroll American Legion will perform Military Honors at the church following the funeral mass. Burial will be held at a later date.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a Christian Wake Service being held at 7 p.m. at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. An additional visitation will be held on Thursday prior to the funeral mass from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at the church.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be used for a designation that will be decided at a later date.

Ronald Raymond Haubrich, son of Joseph Haubrich, Sr. and Mary (Phieffer) Haubrich, was born on October 9, 1942, and raised on the family farm near Dedham, Iowa. Ronald passed away July 19, 2021, at Regency Park Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Carroll.
Ron attended Kuemper Catholic School and worked with his dad on the family farm until he served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, stationed in Germany as an artillery specialist. Following his discharge, he returned to the farm in 1966.
Ron was united in marriage to Charlotte Messersmith on February 7, 1970, at Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids. They farmed near Dedham until 1978, then moved to Charlotte’s family farm near Coon Rapids. Ron also drove a Coon Rapids-Bayard school bus for 25 years, and was a high school custodian with the district for several years.
Ron retired in 2007 and settled with Charlotte in Carroll. He enjoyed John Wayne westerns, the music of Johnny Cash, and his favorite beverage was coffee. His grandchildren also held a special place in his heart.
Ron is survived by Charlotte, his wife of 51 years, his children, Pam (Jay) Downing of Milford, Lisa (Nick) Johansen of Essex, Nancy (Shane) Lullmann of Fairfax, Carrie (Jerremy) Hofbauer of Coon Rapids, and Jonathan (Jessica) Haubrich of Maple River; as well as his grandchildren, Tanner (Kristine) Downing, Chase and Trey Downing, Darius O’Tool, Abigail Hofbauer, Olivia and Grace Lullmann, and Marissa, Jacob, Miley, and Jase Haubrich, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ron is also survived by his step-grandchildren, Tressa (Dustin) Dorman-Hatflield and Torrey Yarns, his sisters Marjorie Schultes Exira, Irene Ankenbauer, Carroll, Norma (Ron) Irlbeck, Oxnard, CA, Donna Grim, Longmont, CO, and sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Stangl, Lincoln, NE, Shirley Haubrich, Manning, and Betty Nees, Coon Rapids.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law Carl and Emma Messersmith, brothers Ambrose, Wilfred, Clarence, Gerald, William, and Joseph Jr., sisters Clara Haubrich, Margaret Tigges and Mary Lou Kasperbauer, brothers-in-law Robert Ankenbauer Sr., Lawrence Schultes, Wayne Grim, Leonard Tigges, Lloyd Nees, and Jerry Stangl; and sisters-in-law Evelyn Haubrich, Lucille Haubrich, and Maxine Haubrich.
Nieces, Eileen Fick, Denise Irlbeck, and Mary Kay Schultes, and nephews Allen Haubrich, Jeff Haubrich, Russell Haubrich, and Richard Kasperbauer.
