On September 11, 1965, Pat, aka “Tooters”, was united in marriage to Dennis Paysen at the Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake.  This union was blessed with a son, Marvin.  Pat loved children and worked as a teacher’s aid at the Wall Lake School and in the city library for several years.  She was always volunteering her time within the community, nursing home, and church.  She enjoyed spending winters in Arizona and attending weekly bible studies. Pat was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother and loved her time spent with family and friends.  She will be dearly missed by those that knew and loved her.
Psalm 119:24, “This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it”, is the Bible verse that Pat would start every day with. Anyone who would meet her would never know all that she had been through. Pat battled many health issues in the course of her life….a 33-year Mayo Clinic liver transplant survivor and a breast cancer survivor, just to name a few. But through all her illnesses and surgeries, she never complained and always had a smile on her face. She reassured everyone else by saying, “Don’t worry, everything will be ok…God’s got me”… her middle name, JOY, encompassed all that she brought to family and friends. And what joy she must have felt running into her Father’s loving arms as she took her last breath… No more pain, no more suffering, and all the good things that comes with what God promises…that’s what she would want everyone to know… no matter what you are going through, it will all be ok. She was a beacon of light, strength, faith, and an example to all who knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Dennis Paysen of Wall Lake, IA; son Marvin (Myra) Paysen of Littleton, CO; grandchild Clayton Paysen of Pittsburg, PA; sister Carolyn Bahr of CO, and several friends.
Pat was preceded in death by her father Merlin Beese, mother Viola Brown, and step father Dick Brown.
