Even though the annual Carroll Rotary’s Field of Teams softball tournament was forced into hiatus last year due to the pandemic, they were still able to make a donation to St. Anthony Regional Hospital’s Hospice program. Organizer, Bob Fasbender, says they are happy to be back to celebrate the 24th anniversary.
The games will be played on Sunday, Aug. 8 at the Carroll softball complex. The focus right now, Fasbender says, is on getting teams signed up to play. Fasbender has also issued a challenge to his fellow Rotary members.
There are different divisions, as Fasbender explains.
The 16-inch division includes churches, service clubs and families. There is an entry fee to play, and then all participants are asked to also gain financial support from family, friends and community members.
Carmen Schimmer with St. Anthony Hospice says this event is a huge source of support for their organization, which provides services that have touched the lives of many, many area residents.
Hospice provides services in a roughly 30-mile radius around Carroll and in ways beyond what many people know, supporting the family so they can spend more quality time with their loved one. Contact details for Fasbender and Schimmer, the location of entry forms as well as a copy of the entry form can be found below. Deadline for registration is Monday, Aug. 2.
