No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle collision last week north of Panora. The Guthrie County Sheriff’s office responded to the scene on Highway 4 and 200th Road at approximately 11:35 a.m. Wednesday. Upon arrival, they learned that 63-year-old Daniel Lloyd McGhee of Norwalk was southbound on Highway 4 in a 2019 Freightliner truck. Twenty-three-year-old Charles George Nissen-Pickard was eastbound on 200th Road in a 2019 Ford cargo van and was turning north onto Highway 4. Nissen-Pickard told authorities he did not see the McGhee truck and turned in front of it. McGhee attempted to avoid a collision by moving into the other lane, but struck the rear driver’s side of the van. The impact caused the Nissen-Pickard vehicle to enter the north ditch where it overturned. There was an estimated $10,000 in damage to the Freightliner and $5,000 in damage to the Ford. Nissen-Pickard was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way.
