The Carroll City Council will be reviewing a request to vacate an official plat during their meeting on Monday, Aug. 9. City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, says Wittrock’s First Minor Subdivision is technically not within the city limits, but it is within the two-mile zoning authority.
Council members will also open a public hearing for the refinancing of up to $3.6 million in general obligation capital loan notes. If approved, the city could save from $294,000 to $380,000 in interest on the bonds. Favorable bids for installation of a parking lot at Northeast Park were received and the awarding of that contract will take place at Monday’s meeting.
Kellan’s Kingdom and the Miracle Field are currently working on the extension of utilities for the concession/restroom building they will be constructing at the site. Another recreational area in Carroll will be seeing updates as the council learns more about scoreboard donations for the youth sports complex.
Another topic that has been broached by the council in the past will be brought back as a discussion item. During the state baseball tournaments, the downtown restrooms, which had been closed for a brief period, were reopened. Pogge-Weaver says some council members have asked that they revisit the issues and discuss possible solutions.
The public is invited to attend Monday’s 5:15 p.m. meeting in the council chambers at City Hall. It will also be made available for live viewing on local access cable, CAAT6, channels and streamed on the city’s YouTube channel.
