The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education convenes Monday for their last full meeting of the summer before classes begin later this month. The August meeting is a week earlier than it would usually be held, and Superintendent, Dr. Casey Berlau, says this is a result of scheduling issues for several board members.
Monday’s agenda is relatively brief, beginning with the district’s administrative reports. Berlau says they will be considering approval of the district’s hiring and teacher staff handbooks, which were tabled during the July meeting.
The board will also review an updated Return to Learn plan for when students and teachers are back in the classroom starting Wednesday, Aug. 25. Currently, Iowa law prohibits schools from requiring masks in their buildings, so that issue will not be up for consideration. However, Berlau says there are several other aspects of the plan that need to be addressed.
School officials will close the administrative reports with approval of a board governance plan, the allocation plan for Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER III) funds and an approval request to seek bids on a facility plan for the district. The final action items on the agenda are from the CCSD business office, and Berlau says there are only a few issues to address.
The Monday, Aug. 9 meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. in the conference room at Adams Elementary School. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. The full agenda can be found included below.
