Norm was born on September 29, 1956, in Red Oak, IA.  Son of Norman Gaylord England and Joyce (Eggers) England.   He grew up in Red Oak and loved to hunt and fish with his dad and father-in-law. They were always happy to make it home from their adventures.

He attended Red Oak High School where he excelled in track and football and graduated in 1974.  While there, he met the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Sue (Hamilton) England.  The two were married on September 6, 1975, and were inseparable for the last 46 years. They made their home in Red Oak and were blessed with two wonderful children, Cole and Sara.  In 1988, the family moved to Carroll, IA, where Norm worked for Farner-Bocken until he retired in October of 2018.  He loved his coworkers and enjoyed dishing out zingers and giving them nicknames. His own nickname was “Stormin Norman.”  He is remembered at Farner for his positive attitude, sense of humor, and infectious smile.

The family was the most important thing to Norm.  He was a dedicated father that could always be found attending his kids’ activities and cheering for them.  He continued to cheer enthusiastically for his kids’ university teams, the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Northwestern Wildcats, long past their graduations.

Norm was engaged in his community. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carroll.  He was active on church committees and a frequent liturgist.  Norm’s church family held a special place in his heart.  Norm was also a member of Masonic Lodge 264 in Carroll and he valued his relationships with his brothers.

Norm had a vibrant personality that drew others in; he was a friend to all and a stranger to none.  His hobbies included detailing his vehicles, manicuring his lawn, keeping the snow off of his driveway, carpentry, and recently, smoking delicious meats.  The car dealer would say that the England vehicles were more pristine than the cars on the lot.

Norm is survived by his wife Sue of Carroll; son Cole (Christine) England of Boise, ID; daughter Sara (Matt) Lasch of Belle Plaine, MN; grandchildren Marcus and Ethan England of Boise, ID; sister Karen (Denny) Jones of Red Oak, IA; sister-in-law Sandy (Budd) Krcilek of St. Augustine, FL; brother-in-law Doug (Tina) Hamilton of Festus, MO.; many nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and his beloved cat Sammie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gaylord and Joyce England, mother and father-in-law, Bud and Carol Hamilton, and beloved cat, Misty.
