Common Sense, Transparency And A Desire To Make Carroll The Best It Can Be Are What Council Candidate, Tom Bordenaro, Brings To The Table

Tom Bordenaro’s career life has deviated from the plans he had made as a younger man, but he couldn’t be happier. He originally earned a degree in radiology, but ended up spending time in the locker business and as a meat manager for Hy-Vee before he entered the corporate world with a 20-year tenure at Pella. But three years ago, he and his wife, Cindy, bet on themselves and the people of Carroll when they opened Bordenaro’s Meat Market downtown. Now, with that same trust in himself, his family and his community, Bordenaro is putting his name on the November ballot for the Ward 1 Carroll City Council seat. His many questions and concerns on spending have been instrumental in this recently announced decision.

He adds, if you really look at the biggest expenses in your personal life, it is not your house, not your phone or gas bill, it is taxes. People need to understand why these are going up and what that money is being spent on. He uses his business as an example of the impact of city spending.

It is not only the tax dollars that have raised questions for Bordenaro, he has many on the approach to business retention and development.

He adds there is a lot of money being allocated to the way things look, and not addressing the substantial needs of the community as a whole.

His business experience and savvy are not the only attributes Bordenaro will bring to the council.

Bordenaro adds he is eager to learn more about the processes and to dive into the issues to determine what are the best choices for Carroll residents. He says as a council member, he will be asking the right questions and communicating in a more transparent way with community members. And, he says he wants to introduce himself to the people that may not already know who he is.

Bordenaro summarizes by saying there is an old quote that successful people surround themselves with those who can do what they can’t. However, he also believes that to see the big picture, it is often best to understand what that person is supposed to be doing, and having the capabilities of doing it yourself as well. Bordenaro is one of three Carroll City Council candidates being supported by a local Political Action Committee (PAC), Carroll Citizens for Common Sense Government. More information and details on how to support or volunteer with the PAC are available below.
