Officers with the Carroll Police Department responded to two accidents over the weekend. The first occurred at approximately 3:12 p.m. Friday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 30 and Maple Street. Sixty-eight-year-old Martin Corbin of Carroll was stopped on Maple Street at the posted sign in a 2014 GMC Acadia. Seventy-year-old Viky Mason, also of Carroll, was eastbound on Highway 30 and attempting to turn south on Maple, but made an improper turn and struck the Corbin vehicle. No injuries were reported and functional damage was done to both vehicles. Mason was cited for an improper turn. The second reported accident occurred at approximately 10:36 a.m. on Saturday at the intersection of 10th and West Streets. Seventy-six-year-old Noreen Havermann of Carroll was southbound on West Street in a 2012 Buick Enclave. Nineteen-year-old Julianna Hines of Westside was westbound on 10th in a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu. Hines failed to stop for the posted sign and was struck by the Havermann Buick, disabling the Chevrolet. Again, no injuries were reported and Hines was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.
