City hall in Sac City will be closing early at the end of this week as they celebrate the many people who helped managed to pull off the community’s first time as an overnight stop on RAGBRAI without a hitch. Administrator, Jamie Lawrence, says nearly all city staff will be dismissed at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 20 to attend the appreciation event.
More than 20,000 riders and support teams made their way into Sac City on Sunday, July 25. Lawrence says city leaders were a little apprehensive before the big day, but they could not be more pleased with how smoothly everything went.
Lawrence and other RAGBRAI organizers credit the countless manhours donated by the volunteers and says they more than deserve the recognition. Anybody who helped lend a hand in the preparation work or cleaning up after RAGBRAI is invited to come out to the Sac Country Club on Friday afternoon to participate in the thank you celebration.
