BERT MADDEN JR.
Bert Madden Jr., age 79, of Carroll, died Friday, August 20, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at St. John Paul II Parish – Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Kevin Richter. Music will be by Kathy Halbur. Gift Bearers will be Trevor Lebeck and Bryce Anliker. Casket Bearers will be Nicole Lebeck, Candace Saffell, Bert Madden IV, Samantha Humble, Jacy Newton, Brittany Kokenge, Michelle Andersen, Cole Madden and Chase Madden. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Additional visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 9:30-10:15 a.m.

Bert was born on February 10, 1942 in Red Oak, Iowa, the son of Bert and Genevra (Parsons) Madden. He grew up around Red Oak and Atlantic, Iowa. On May 4, 1963 Bert married Bev Zaiger and celebrated 58 years of marriage. To this union were born a daughter and three sons. He worked at various farm and mechanical jobs ending as a Transportation Specialist with Region XII Counsel of Governments and New Hope Village. Bert and Bev enjoyed vacationing every summer. A few of their favorite vacation destinations were Hawaii, New York City and Paris. Bert enjoyed motorcycle rides, cruising in the convertible and boating. He was known to always be tinkering with motors and spending time with family. Every Saturday night Bert and Bev enjoyed going out to eat at a restaurant and to the movies.
Bert is survived by his wife Bev and four children: LaDonna (Randy) Lebeck of Grand Junction, Iowa, Bert (Pat) Madden III, Mike Madden and Chad (Shelly) Madden all of Carroll, Iowa; nine grandchildren: Nicole Lebeck, Candace (Corey) Saffell, Jacy Newton, Bert (Codee) Madden IV, Samantha (Sam) Humble, Brittany Kokenge, Michelle Andersen, Cole Madden and Chase Madden; 17 great-grandchildren, one brother Tom and many extended family members.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Bert and Genevra; father and mother-in-law Earl and Dorothy Zaiger; brothers John, Larry and infant brother Robert; sister Mary Jane.
