Greene County authorities responded to three accidents over the weekend, with the first occurring at approximately 1:05 p.m. Friday on Highway 144 and 1st Street in Rippey. Eighty-year-old Gerald Reutter of Pilot Mound was attempting to cross Highway 144 in a 2020 Chevrolet Impala and was struck by a 2019 International semi-tractor trailer, driven by 46-year-old Jermon McLean of Schenectady, N.Y. There were no injuries reported and only minimal damage, $3,000 to the Impala and $1,000 to the semi. Reutter was cited for failure to yield the right of way. The second accident was also on Friday, at approximately 1:16 p.m. on I Avenue near 150th Street, south of Churdan. Thirty-three-year-old Erica Teed of Jefferson was northbound in a 2006 Pontiac G6 when a southbound 2011 Dodge Ram, driven by 74-year-old Mark Blair of Churdan, crossed the center line and sideswiped the Teed vehicle. Again, no injuries were reported, but there was an estimated $3,500 in damage to the Pontiac and $2,000 in damage to the Ram. Blair was cited for failure to yield half of the right of way. The final reported accident occurred at approximately 3:49 p.m. on Sunday in the 800 block of Highway 4, north of Jefferson. A 2012 Dodge Avenger left the roadway and struck a tree. There was an estimated $14,000 in damage to the vehicle and the juvenile driver was cited for failure to maintain control.
