Sac County Conservation has announced more upcoming events for kids, adults and families alike. A new seasonal program, that is free of charge, is being offered to kids who are 10 to 15 years old. The Outdoor Explorers will try new outdoor skills with different activities scheduled for each session. This may include things like atlatl throwing snowshoeing, fire building, orienteering, geocaching and more. Pre-registration is required and can be done by contacting Naturalist, Kristen Bieret, by email at sccbnat@gmail.com or calling 712-662-4530. Secured dates for Outdoor Explorer events are Oct. 16, Jan. 8 and April 9, 2022 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at various locations to be determined by the activity. They are also inviting everyone to join them at 4 p.m. on Nov. 4 at Hagge Park near Sac City for a Dutch oven cooking program. Everyone will work together to craft recipes that can be cooked in a series of Dutch ovens. Then, attendees will get to enjoy what has been made and can take the recipes home for future use. Pre-registration is required and there is a $5 fee per person to cover material costs. The same contact points detailed earlier for Bieret can be used to register for the Dutch oven cooking program as well.
