The Coon Valley Ducks Unlimited annual banquet is being held a little late this year. Member, John Pauli, says it is normally held in early September, but was pushed back because of scheduling conflicts. This, he says, is the biggest fundraiser for this chapter and for wetland conservation.
The banquet is this Saturday, Oct. 16 at the Carroll American Legion, and Pauli says tickets are available at the door.
The evening also includes an auction and raffles with a wide variety of great items. Pauli says the money raised goes to the support of waterways and wetland areas. And as of late, Ducks Unlimited has been spending more money in Iowa than is raised within the state.
Pauli adds this covers thousands of acres and carries a high price tag.
Saturday’s banquet starts with the social hour at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. and the auction to follow.
