On Wednesday morning, Carroll City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, announced he was not in the final running for the same position with the city of Marion, a community of just over 41,000 near Cedar Rapids. Today (Friday), the City of Marion has finally made a formal announcement of the candidate selected from the four finalists to fill the position, Ryan J. Waller from Indianola. Waller has been the Indianola City Manager since 2016 and was instrumental in the construction of a $45 million wastewater treatment plant, a bond rating upgrade, a City Square Master plan and won budgeting awards for five consecutive years. His first day on the job as City Manager, overseeing the community’s 250 employees and $121.7 million operating budget will be Nov. 29. The council reports they will formally approve the employment contract at their next meeting.
