Mark Remsburg of Lake City

Mark Remsburg, 67, died Friday, October 29, 2021 at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll.  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 1, 2021, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Lake City with Pastor Paul Ferderer officiating.  Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at Lampe & Powers Funeral Home in Lake City.  A private family burial will be held in the Lake City Cemetery.
Mark William Remsburg was born on May 15, 1954 to Cecil and Phyllis Remsburg in Lake City, Iowa.  He was a middle child with an older brother, Mike; and a younger brother, Kim.
Mark and Sheila wed on June 2, 1973 in Lidderdale, Iowa and began their story on the Remsburg family farm raising cows, pigs, crops and 3 children, Heather, Holly and Jeffrey William.  But, make no mistake, his other three kids were Guthrey Fritz, Joe Coppola III and Aubree Conrad. Mark welcomed them into the family, and loved them like his own.  He would later adore seven grandkids and served proudly as World’s Best Grandpa.
Mark was a good man who just simply “showed up” to life.  He showed up at countless basketball, football, softball, soccer and volleyball games as both a dad and grandpa. He showed up for the FFA, NRA, Pheasants Forever, Iowa Pork Producers, Southern Cal Chain Gang, Farm Bureau, and shooting clubs.  Along with farming, Mark also worked for Morton Electric, Gemberling Electric and T&S Electric. He retired from farming in 2010 and trusted Dan and Marie Streeter with his operation.
By his side for every up and down of life and his cancer journey was his faithful companion, Sheila.  For 47 years, they built a life and a family he loved and cherished.
On October 29th, Mark was met by his Savior, his dad, Cecil; brothers, Mike and Kim; father-in-law Bill Bruggeman; and good friends Terry Finley, Kenny Krogman and Steve Burley.  Left with a big hole in their hearts are his beloved mom, Phyllis; his wife and best friend, Sheila; and 3 kids and 7 grandkids- Heather (Guthrey) Fritz and two daughters, Grace and Maya; Holly (Joe III) Coppola and three children, Joey IV, Maddox and Saylor; Jeffrey (Aubree) Remsburg and two children, Lettie and Arlo William. Also mourning are his mother-in-law Doris Bruggeman; In-laws Cathy Leitz (Mark); Brenda Johnson (Clark); Brett Bruggeman (Kelly); Dawn Remsburg; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Mark was also so very loved by good friends, Tony Sommerfeld, Andy McMeekin, Joe George, Rob Burley, and Jeff Claiborne. “His Lord said unto him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your Master.”
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Hope Lodge, Rochester, MN and the St Anthony’s Regional Cancer Center and Hospice, Carroll, IA, both of which were instrumental in Mark’s care.
