At the conclusion of his ninth year on the dias, Carroll’s Ward One Councilman, Mike Kots will be retiring from service. The decision Kots made to not seek reelection earlier this year brought two new candidates to Tuesday night’s ballot. Local business owner, Tom Bordenaro, took home the win against his opponent, Jay Norgaard, on a vote of 543 to 268. However, Bordenaro says either way this race went, the City of Carroll would get the win.
Bordenaro says he was a little nervous going into Election Day, but it was also a great new experience for him.
The newly-elected council members and mayor were scheduled to join in a planning session Wednesday morning. Bordenaro says now that the campaigning is done, it is time to focus even more attention on learning the ropes and getting down to the business of serving the Carroll residents.
And like all the other candidates, Bordenaro expresses gratitude to those who took the time to cast their votes in this year’s election.
