New CCSD School Board Member, Kristen Lundstrom, Is Grateful To Voters For Their Support In Nov. 2 Election

Newcomer, Kristen Lundstrom, will be the newest member of the Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education following last night’s (Tuesday) election. Four candidates were seeking to fill two at-large seats on the board, and Lundstrom was the top vote-getter with 1,532 ballots cast in her favor.  Incumbent, Duane Horsley, retained his seat with 1,504 votes while Jen Munson, the other incumbent, collected 1,218 votes and Salissou Sani Saidou had 593. Lundstrom says she was nervous heading into Election Day but that was swiftly replaced with excitement when precincts started reporting.

Early numbers show turnout in Carroll County reached nearly 30 percent, which is unusually high for local elections. Lundstrom says it is good to see so many people engaging with the district and their children or grandchildren’s education.

With the addition of Lundstrom, four of the five board members will be serving in their first elected term. Horsley will have more school board experience than the rest of the directors combined, and Lundstrom says that his knowledge is a valuable asset as she takes up her new role.

She credits current and previous boards and administration for helping get the district into the position it is in now, but there is still room for improvement. Lundstrom’s vision for the district is focused on quality education with parental input at all levels.

Results from last night’s (Tuesday) local elections can be found included with this story on our website. These results are unofficial until canvassed by the controlling county’s board of supervisors. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more from the winning candidates in upcoming newscasts.
