Carroll Supervisor Break An Unusual Type Of Tie In Ralston City Council Election

During Monday’s canvassing of the city and school elections from Nov. 2, County Auditor, Kourtney Payer , explained to the board that there was a unique situation that occurred in the Ralston city election.

Payer says she had to contact the Secretary of State to find out who is to get which seat.

The supervisors were tasked with drawing names to determine which of the write in candidates that tied, Colton Brincks and Casey Smick, will take office at the next council meeting and which will take the seat in January. The results are that Smick will be taking the vacant seat immediately and Brincks will join the Ralston City Council in January. The rest of the races were certified as reported on Election Day.
